Recycling & Trash

Trash

Alford recycles it’s trash. It’s important to abide by the recycling rules. Not doing so costs the town extra money, as the town gets charged by their trash pickup service for improperly recycled items. We pre-sort our trash, and it is sorted further at the trash facilities.

Compactor
Compactor

The Compactor is for trash bags and food garbage. Bags of shredded paper, packing foam “peanuts”, and chunks of packing foam go in the compactor as well (so that they don’t blow away).

Recycle Bins
Recycle Bins

The Recycle Bins are where all of the common recyclables are dumped. When you are facing the recycling container, there are two compartments. The left-side compartment is where you dump all recyclable glass, bottles, cans and plastics. The right-side compartment is where you dump paper, cardboard, books, and printed paper materials. Any cardboard or paper that’ soiled with food or wet should go in the Compactor.

Open-Top
Open-Top

The Open-Top is where any large refuse should be dumped, including household items, construction materials, metals, plastics, wood, etc.

If you aren’t sure about how yo should recycle certain items then contact the Transfer Station.
