Board of Health

Overview

The Board of Health Members and Sanitary Inspectors are required by state statutes and regulations to perform many important and crucial duties relative to the protection of public health, the control of disease, the promotion of sanitary living conditions and the protection of the environment from damage and pollution.

SEPTIC SYSTEM SERVICES: All septic system inspections, perc tests and septic designs submissions should contact to Butch Kahlstrom, Health Inspector.

PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING: Alford receives its public health nursing services through the Southern Berkshire Public Health Collaborative, which serves 12-towns in Southern Berkshire County.  Jill Sweet (jill@tritownhealth.org) is available for public health nursing questions.

In Alford, the Select Board also acts on behalf of the Board of Health.  The combined meetings are typically held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6:00 pm with a option to participate remotely.
